Ravish Kumar is married to Nayana Dasgupta, who teaches history at Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. The couple has two daughters. He lives in New Delhi.
He is known for writing short romantic micro-fiction, which he calls "laprek" (short for "laghu prem katha"), some of which was collected in Ishq Mein Shahar Hona.
