Salman Khan was born on 27 December 1965 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, as the eldest child of screenwriter Salim Khan (of the writing duo Salim–Javed) and Salma Khan (born Sushila Charak). His family:
Raised in both Muslim and Hindu traditions, he has said he identifies with both.
He studied at the Scindia School in Gwalior and at St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai. He then joined St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, but left before completing his degree to pursue films.
