Sonu Sood married Sonali Sood, whom he met while studying engineering in Nagpur, in 1996. The couple has two sons, Ishant and Ayaan.
He lives in Mumbai and is known for his fitness and disciplined lifestyle. He stays closely connected to his hometown, Moga. In November 2020 the Election Commission named him the state icon of Punjab to encourage voter awareness.
