Tiger Shroff was born Jai Hemant Shroff on 2 March 1990 in Mumbai, to actor Jackie Shroff and film producer Ayesha Shroff (née Dutt). He has a younger sister, Krishna Shroff, an entrepreneur and fitness enthusiast. His maternal grandfather, Air Vice Marshal Ranjan Dutt, was awarded the Vir Chakra.
He studied at the American School of Bombay. From childhood he trained in martial arts, gymnastics and dance. He was inspired by Bruce Lee and Michael Jackson. In 2014 he was felicitated with an honorary fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo. He is also a trained dancer and gymnast who performs most of his own stunts.
